What if you had no control of speaking to the dead? Chloe the main character in the book The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong had to deal with this special power for the rest of her life. This story follows the ironic plot line with the plot line and the characteristics really make the mode of literature clear.
In the ironic mode of literature there are only three plot points and in this story they are very clear. In this book the first plot that Chloe, Simon, Derek, and Tori who are Chloe’s friends, are all running for their lives to get away from their group home. There are many reasons why the kids were running from their group home. One of the main reasons is that the people from the group home were trying to kill these kids, because Chloe and her friends have supper power. For an example Chloe can talk to the dead sounds cool but, not knowing if you were talking to the dead really starts to make you feel like you are a crazy person. Or Derek had the power of turning into a werewolf and he had no control of when it would happen. So as you can see it is not really fun to have powers like these. That leads us into the next plot point is the kids were running for their lives. So the friends go to New York trying to escape but they find out that the people that are in New York. Chloe and her friends were so scared, When they started running trying to escape again. Trying to escape they had split up in order to escape they did not split on purpose. Almost all the time they were running for their lives from the group home. When Chloe was escaping she had to go into a tree to be safe and she fell out and knocked a lady out. After all that running they escaped for now from them. That leads us to the last point which is when they were running Chloe saw her Aunt, Chloe’s aunt was the only person she could trust and she was everything to Chloe and now the Edison group killed her because she was helping the kids get away. Although the plot line proves the mode of literature the characteristics just as much prove the mode.
As you can see the mode was proven with the plot line the characteristics do the same. In this story the main character was not is control Chloe and her friends had the keep running to be safe. Another characteristic is that the evil was strong and good is weak the group home had all these weapons and cars and tools to always be a head of the kids and the kids had no clue what would happen next. This story is very unrealistic because in real life you do not have powers like these and you don’t have powers at all. There are more characteristics but these were the main characteristics but these were the characteristics that really prove the mode.
So as you can see this book follows the ironic mode of literature through its plots and its characteristics. This stories lesson is something that we need to think of more often because compared to this story our lives are nowhere near how bad these kids’ lives are.

Chain Story
Author’s note: We had made a chain story in class that almost everyone in class would add something to your story started until you had a story. But when I got mine back I had an assassin in my story and it really did not make sense. So I decided to redo my story and keep my story started.
It was a sunny beautiful day. When it happened…. A tornado appeared out of nowhere. The tornado blindsided my house and swept me off the ground. I was so terrified when I was twirling around in the tornado I was hit more than five times with cars, wood and trees. So I was knocked out when I finally woke up. I had tons or burses and I thought I had some broken bones. When I finally got a hold of myself I look around and saw I was not in my home town anymore I was miles and miles away from my home. Got up off the ground and tried to walk but I just fell down. I tried many times but I just couldn’t. So I then remembered that I had my cell phone but when I checked my pockets it was not there. That meant that my phone was gone and it was lost in the tornado. I thought about how mad my parents would be at me. But then I thought they should not be so mad because it was not really my fault because I was in a tornado and the tornado made my phone come out of my pocket. They should be happy that I am still alive. After thinking of what trouble I might get into when I got home I figure out that I really should get home soon. So I tried to get up again and I could. So I went to see if anyone was a round to help me and I saw lots of people lots of them were nice and other not so much. This was a small town and I really liked it so I decided maybe I should call my family and ask if they would like to come to this town and live here. I first had to get a hold of them but when I look around I noticed that this place look familiar so I walked a little bit around and I saw a house that looked like my house but larger. I knocked on the door and my mom asked the door. She asked me where I had been and I said I was on a tornado. She said oh I saw that tornado go by. She was not one bit worried about me. I guess I went in the tornado and came all the way back home. I was so relieved. That I was back home and not some other place in the world. When I got into my house nothing was messed up and the neighbor had nothing wrong with it. Then I ran in to a wall and a heard a beeping sound it was my alarm to wake up. I guess it was just a dream.

Favorite Color
My favorite colors are pink, lime green, and blue. The reason I like these colors is one they look good together and they are pretty I think. Pink symbolizes friendship, blue symbolizes trust, and green symbolizes freshness. All of these colors remind me of something like blue reminds me of water and the sky. Pink reminds me of flowers and clothes. Lastly lime green reminds me of grass and summer when I play outside. I love these colors.

Movies
There are so many different movies. There are scary movies which I really don’t like. And there are nice fairytale movies which I am not a fan of. And lastly there are movies that I call girly these kind of movies I like. The reason I like these movies is because they have a good story sometimes. But other times these movies can be really bad. Then if I watch them I feel like it was a waste of time. After watching that I feel I could have read the book I am reading which I like more that the movie I just watched. One of my favorite movie is She’s the Man. I really like this movie because it is just the kind of movie that I like to watch like the girly movies. But I also like to watch the movie Blind Side because I like that there was a good lesson. That is why I would rather watch a movie I like.

Snow Day
How many times have you had a snow day? I really want a snow day tomorrow. The reason I want a snow day is because I would like to sleep in and also I love to play in the snow with my brothers. We always play in the snow and make forts and sled when it has just snowed. I don't like when people say you still play in the snow because for some reason they think it is kidish, well it is but I am still a kid and I don't want to wast the time of being a kid and not do fun things. Also it me playing in the snow is fun. I also love when you are finished playing outside because you are so cool and tired you come inside and drink hot coco. When I am drinking my hot coco I will watch a movie and sit under a blanket and keep warm. To me that is the perfect snow day.
